I took a Red Cross volunteer class the other day and the instructor posed a question to the class:
what do people consider to be the most important establishment in their communities? Well of course we all thought it was the local Red Cross Chapter, but that actually came in second place, right behind local libraries. And are we surprised?! Not at all – libraries rock! Not only do they provide hours of entertainment to people of all ages, they are an amazing inspiration and venue for your wedding! So we’ve collected some of our favorite library-inspired pieces to cover your needs from the engagement shoot to reception! I love how these colorful books play such a fun and appropriate role in this engagement shoot – if you and your fiance love to read, then you don’t need any other accessories for your shoot! And these Save The Dates?! So awesome! A book mark is functional for your guests and the library return card is a creative way to remind everyone to save that day!
As your guests enter the reception, bring in a vintage desk, covered with vintage books of course, for the perfect place to sign…the guestbook! I love this fun page garland – use old books for some charm and throw in some complimentary colors to go with the rest of your theme. After seeing these pictures, I’m DYING to do a reception in a grand library like these – what amazing venues! Little decor is needed, as the natural surroundings do all the work. Keep things simple and classic – don’t fight with the elegance that is already there.
This Table Number?! Adorable!
And then of course, table top decor seems to be limitless when it comes to literary and library themed adornments – from books, pencils, card catalog drawers (swoon), to page-wrapped votives…where does the amazing end?! And perhaps my most favorite library-inspired wedding yumminess I found today – this cake. THIS. Cake. I’m imagining Mr. Darcy’s love profession as the print. Because that is quite possible the most romantic speech ever given. And nothing could be more romantic than having Mr. Darcy at your wedding….
