Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow.
My love for The Sound of Music started at a young age. My mother and I made it an annual tradition to watch it together during the holidays. We would sing every song at the top of our lungs and dance around the living room. To this day, I always get a warm feeling when I hear any song from The Sound of Music. BUT my all time favorite song was always and will always be “Edelweiss” . So I got to thinking… I wonder if people have incorporated Edelweiss into their weddings and how was it done?
Edelweiss (edel=noble, weiss=white) is very rare and short-lived flower that can be found in secluded mountain areas. The flower is a symbol for rugged beauty, nobility and purity associated with the Alps and is a national symbol of Austria and Switzerland. There are stories and stories about the Edelweiss including young men who would climb the alps up dangerous trails pick Edelweiss and present to their special lady . It was a symbol of true love. As for the girl who received the Edelweiss , she would often dry, press it and frame it to be used as a pendant – to remember the man who had found this flower and presented it to her to show his devotion. The Edelweiss is love. Love and devotion.
Prefect for weddings.
I love Edelweiss in bridal bouquets, it softens the look with a velvet touch. The simplicity of the Edelweiss looks beautiful and streamlined for wedding cakes and decorations.Incorporating Edelweiss in a floral crown or headband is a stunning touch and would compliment a mountain wedding.
