Happy Thursday! I always love when I can start off the day showing off one of our amazing couples and an amazing wedding, to boot. Meet Gaby & John. A couple that came to us early this year with plans for a September Wedding that soon turned into an April Wedding. But two months to plan a wedding doesn’t scare us and we jumped in feet first to throw them an easy going, outdoorsy and fun wedding for all of their family and friends to come to Colorado and celebrate. They are easily one of the sweetest and most easy going couples we have had the joy of working with. Preston Utley caught the day perfectly. Gaby spent the morning getting hair and makeup with her family at Berenices in the uptown area while John got ready with his brothers at home before they headed out to Spruce Mountain Ranch, an amazing venue set in the hilly plains just south of Denver in Larkspur, CO.
Although we were blessed with a warm and sunny spring here in Colorado, the day gave way to a chill in the air and stormy skies, which provided for a dramatic backdrop and photos. On the top of Gaby’s wish list was an outdoor and natural ceremony, though, and with the help of hot cocoa and warm pashminas, things continued as planned! The guests were commenting on how perfect the setting was for their personalities and were fine with a little bit of a chill. After a personal ceremony performed by their good friend, Joel Davis, guests were shuttled down to the Colorado Room to warm up and mingle before dinner. Then it was time for everyone to move over to Albert’s Lodge for dinner and dancing (did I mention we love a progression of space?).
For decor, Gaby’s vision was a gardeny, airy and comfortable look, which we ran with with a white, green and brown accented color palette, lacy touches and the juxtaposition of vintage silver and burlap. A plethora of candle light helped to warm the space. And then there were the favors. Enormous and deliciously homemade cookies from St. Mark’s, an uptown coffee shop that is a favorite of Gaby and John’s, and that we are now in love with. To kick off dinner, Gaby’s adorable father won the prize for best speech in wedding history (seriously). He had the whole crowd teary eyed at the end, especially when he incorporated his love for his wife and Gaby’s mom. It doesn’t get better than a lifetime true love!
And then it was time to party and party they did! The stormy skies gave way to an evening full of thunder snow, yes thunder snow! (my first time experiencing that by the way) and the ranch filled with a lovely layer of spring snow. The dance floor was full to the end and thank god for coach bus transportation, everyone was shuttled home safely. Gaby and John, we truly enjoyed working with you and your lovely families to put your big day together. We wish you all the best in your lives together!
